Since the day I met Jesus, my hearts cry has been, 'Lord, I want to know You more!' Almost 18 years later, knowing Jesus and making Him known is still my passion. Not only did I find myself immersed in His love for me through learning to read the Bible, and finding that I could talk to Him about everything I was concerned with, He also surrounded me incredible people, here at Green Valley Christian, to come along side me and help me grow in His graces.

My life and my family has been changed forever because of the influence of these people. I love this church!

My husband Wayne and I are celebrating our 40th anniversary this year (he's a keeper!!) and we have 2 wonderful daughters, Laurie and Jennifer. Because of them we have two sweet sons, Pete and Tony. If that isn't enough blessing, the Lord also gave us 4 of the most precious grand babies! And I mean precious! Jessup, Zachary, Sammy and Nina. (Pictures included, aren't they wonderful! Just call me Nana Jo :) Grandkids are the perk of getting older. We are all very grateful to still have Papa and Nana Shaffer. Besides the Lord, they have been the glue that has held our family so close together. One of my favorite memories is when Wayne and both my folks were baptized here at GVCC. That was definitely a 'Hallelujah Day' for me.

Serving in the pastoral office for the last 12 years has been the icing on the cake. Learning how God has designed me to serve has brought incredible joy and a fulfillment I had never known and I get to do it with people I love. What could be better? I think I'm living that abundant life, Jesus wants for us.
